Guess what: now you can drive a Lego car just like little Lego people do, and without having to wear those snap-on pants. Raul Oaida built a real human-sized car out of Lego! He used half a million Lego pieces, and the car can drive up to 20 miles per hour. Bricks have never moved so fast!
Lace up: What shape is a car tire?
Jog: If the 10th piece in the side door is black, how many yellow pieces come before it?
Sprint: If the 12th piece is black in the next row, then the 14th piece in the next, then the 16th in the next…which piece is black in the next row?
Hurdle: The car uses 500,000 pieces. If each of the 2 doors uses 100,000, how many are left for the body of the car?
High Jump: If the windshield uses 24 Lego windshield pieces with 6 pieces across in each row, how many rows tall is it?
Answers:
Lace up: A circle (or in 3D, a “torus”).
Jog: 9 yellow pieces.
Sprint: The 18th piece.
Hurdle: 300,000 pieces!
High Jump: 4 rows tall, since 6 x 4 = 24.
