Gator Mania

In that swampy part of southern Florida called the Everglades, alligators are everywhere. Here we see “Buckethead,” as the Everglades tour guides like to call him. And if a gator wanders into your kitchen, the Fish and Wildlife department says it’s an emergency only if the gator is longer than 4 feet. Shorter than that, you’re told to shoo it away with a broom. Let’s hope Buckethead and his buddies stay in the swamp!
Lace up: Who has more legs, you or Buckethead the alligator?
Jog: Buckethead is 11 feet long. Try counting from 1 to 11!
Sprint: Buckethead’s friend Eileen is 8 feet long, while Buckethead is 11 feet long. How many feet longer is Buckethead than Eileen?
Hurdle: Alligators have dozens of teeth. If you have 20 teeth and the alligator has 4 times as many, how many does the alligator have?
High Jump: If Buckethead is exactly 80, how much older than you is he?
Answers:
Lace up: The alligator has more legs — you have 2, he has 4.
Jog: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.
Sprint: 3 feet longer.
Hurdle: 80 teeth.
High Jump: Different for everyone…subtract your age from 80. Or if you’re 80 or older, find out how much older you are by subtracting 80 from your age!
