Geckos, Dragons, Chameleons, Oh My!

So what’s the difference between geckos, lizards, Komodo dragons, salamanders, and chameleons? All but one are in the same big happy family: the lizard family. Lizards are reptiles and all cold-blooded, so they have to lie in the sunshine to warm up. Meanwhile, the salamander is an amphibian, meaning it can live in the water or on land. And it knows how to make a splash!
Lace up: Lizards have 4 feet. Who has more, you or a lizard?
Jog: Chameleons change color to hide and also to show they’re angry. If you have 5 chameleons and 2 of them turn dark, how many of them are still happy?
Sprint: If there are 3 lizards warming up in the sunshine, how many lizards would have to join them to make a total of 20 feet?
Hurdle: If you have the longest chameleon possible — 27 inches — and it’s 9 times as long as your pet gecko, how long is the gecko?
High Jump: If you have a 10-foot pet Komodo dragon, how much longer than you is that dragon, in inches?
Answers:
Lace up: The lizard!
Jog: 3 happy chameleons.
Sprint: 2 more lizards would have to join to make 20 feet, because the 3 lizards have 12 feet (4 + 4 + 4), 8 fewer than 20.
Hurdle: 3 inches.
High Jump: Different for everyone…subtract your height (length) from 120 inches.
